Currently, there are four major transformations that are shaping political, economic and world events. These transformations have profound implications for American business owners, our culture and our way of life.

Most countries in the Western world have stopped breeding. For a civilization obsessed with sex, this is remarkable. Maintaining a steady population requires a birth rate of 2.1. In Western Europe, the birth rate currently stands at 1.5, or 30 percent below replacement. In 30 years there will be 70 to 80 million fewer Europeans than there are today. The current birth rate in Germany is 1.3. Italy and Spain are even lower at 1.2.

Maybe three percent of the adult population become addicted gamblers. Yet private gambling is illegal in most cities and states, except for government gambling schemes called lotteries.

Why do politicians we elect presume they can destroy our rights because some people are idiots who can't control themselves? What right do they have to punish you and violate your rights because of the stupidity or illegal acts of others? They have no such right. Mankind fought for over a thousand years in England, starting with Magna Carta, to create and defend fundamental legal principles that protect liberty against government tyranny.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. -- When child welfare officials in Washington removed five young children from their parents' home in May, relatives in this Washington suburb quickly stepped in, offering to share guardianship.

If the relatives had lived in Washington, they might have gained custody of the children within days, after a quick check on their suitability. Instead, the children were put in a foster home, where they could remain for months while their relatives wait for Washington and Maryland to make formal requests, home inspections and approvals.

The coming election is now all about finding viable solutions for our energy problems. Just kidding it's all about excuses to drill in the region of our wallets and purses again.

Unless we can figure out a way to put caribou on our paychecks, the worst is yet to come. Barack Obama opposes a lift on the ban on oil drilling off the Florida coast. Not only because drilling would cause disruptive ripples in the water on which Obama's walking, but because he claims it would take at least 10 years...

A Canadian court ruled last week that the father of a 12-year-old girl had no right to ground his daughter for disobeying orders to stay off the Internet.

The girl had taken her father to Quebec Superior Court after he refused to allow her to go on a school trip for chatting on websites he tried to block, and then posting "inappropriate" pictures of herself online using a friend's computer.

It takes a lot to shock me anymore, but indeed, shock is what registered when I listened to talk show host, Michael Reagan, on June 10, 2008: "...We ought to find the people who are doing this, take them out and shoot them. Really..."

One thing I find astounding is the absolute black out of ANY media coverage on Reagan's death threats and solicitation of murder. Not a single word has been said about Michael Reagan's call to kill Americans from any "mainstream" media source. Where is the condemnation?

Some California legislators might claim to be victims of pay discrimination if the commission that sets state elected officials' salaries decides this week to impose its first pay cut.

The California Citizens Compensation Commission is scheduled Tuesday to consider a proposal by its chairman to cut elected officials' salaries by 10 percent to help deal with a $15.2 billion state budget deficit.

In Panama, as in the US, GMOs are permitted in the food chain without any labeling at all. This is an ecological, medical and consumer“s rights disaster.

Only strong consumer advocacy, and market pressure against anything which might have GMOs in it (that means avoiding anything which is not labeled "organic" or "GM Free") will change US policy. But once the environment, or your body, is contaminated with foreign DNA, there is no know way to reverse that process.

A priest is being investigated as a potential criminal under a federal hate crimes law for quoting from the Bible.

He's being targeted using a Canadian provision under which no defendant ever has been acquitted, according to a new report. "What was Father de Valk's alleged 'hate act'?"

U.S. Senator David Vitter

June 03, 2008

U.S. Sen. David Vitter today introduced a bill to provide education-related tax relief to families who home school their children.

The Home School Opportunities Make Education Sound Act (S. 3076) would allow home school families to take advantage of tax deductions to help alleviate education-related expenses.
