California and Homeschool Liberty:A Companion Post
The Full-Quiver Homeschool House
July 01, 2008
On Monday, June 23, the Court of Appeal in Los Angeles held oral arguments for the rehearing in the In re Rachel L homeschooling/abuse case in California.
The arguments were long (two and a half hours in a hot courtroom) and thorough. The judges asked lots of questions, with some consistent themes. As soon as you thought you had one judge pegged as to how he or she was thinking, he or she would ask another question that made you wonder about your prior conclusion. They were reasonably generous about letting people finish their presentations or points even if they ran over a little on time.

American taxpayers fund a racket that wrenches the stomach. That is CPS. Some of those involved claim their are just following orders, others just pocket the bounty on children wrenched from their parent's arms.
We are going to take you behind the lies into the ugly truth that is destroying families for profit every day, in every community across America. You won't want to believe it but when you see their faces, hear their voices, you will understand why this is happening and what it means to your own life, even if you don't have children.
I Am Not My Brother's Keeper -- And Neither Are You
Public School Menace
by Joel Turtel
Maybe three percent of the adult population become addicted gamblers. Yet private gambling is illegal in most cities and states, except for government gambling schemes called lotteries.
Why do politicians we elect presume they can destroy our rights because some people are idiots who can't control themselves? What right do they have to punish you and violate your rights because of the stupidity or illegal acts of others? They have no such right. Mankind fought for over a thousand years in England, starting with Magna Carta, to create and defend fundamental legal principles that protect liberty against government tyranny.

Rice golfer Whitehead a winner in the making
Houston Chronicle

June 26, 2008
After one is homeschooled for 12 years, enrolling at Rice takes a little adjusting. For Owls golfer Michael Whitehead, the transition to college actually went smoothly. Just like his swing.
"It wasn't that bad adjusting to classes or anything. Because as far as that goes, you go to class for an hour, then you do the rest of the work on your own. Which is like home school. You have to basically teach yourself everything out of a book. As far as the classwork, yeah, it was hard. It's Rice."
Lottery revenue decrease to hit schools
The Union Democrat (CA)
by Lacey Peterson
June 25, 2008
Schools will be losers this year when it comes to state lottery money. Decreased Lotto sales mean less funding for schools, including those in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties, in an already tight budget year.
Lottery sales in California for the fiscal year ending in July are estimated at $3.1 billion, which is down from 2006-2007 revenue of $3.3 billion, said Al Lundeen, California Lottery spokesman. While lottery funds only make up 1.5 percent of all public education funding, lottery funds contributed more than $1 million each to schools in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties in 2006-2007, according to the California Lottery Commission.
Homeschoolers are only good for cleaning toilets
The American Vision

The title for today's article is taken from a response to one of American Vision's daily articles.
The respondent is an atheist who claims he can refute any argument raised in defense of the Christian faith. His personal emails to me are worse than what I have reproduced here. If you want to know what the world would be like with atheists in control, here's a little taste...
Girl Sues Dad over Grounding -- and Wins
San Francisco Examiner (Canada)
A Canadian court ruled last week that the father of a 12-year-old girl had no right to ground his daughter for disobeying orders to stay off the Internet.
The girl had taken her father to Quebec Superior Court after he refused to allow her to go on a school trip for chatting on websites he tried to block, and then posting "inappropriate" pictures of herself online using a friend's computer.

There comes a legend from old Tuolumne County of a black bear that would slowly idle into gold camps during the 1850s and show off for large audiences in return for treats. His repertoire included turning summersaults, smoking a clay pipe...
Before we continue, readers need to know that it is illegal in California to feed and befriend these remarkably intelligent animals. And rightfully so. Their dispositions can suddenly change from sweet and loving to that of a wanton killer's without warning.
